William Torbeyns is a joint PhD Fellow in medieval history at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and KU Leuven. He obtained his MA in History at VUB in 2024, where his thesis examined late medieval migration from Flanders to Florence. His current doctoral research, funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), explores migration from the Low Countries to London and Florence in the fifteenth century, with particular attention to the selectivity and drivers of migration.
