Prof. Dr. Gabriele Abbondanza is Senior Assistant Professor of International Relations at Comillas Pontifical University (Spain); Associate Fellow at the Italian Institute of International Affairs – IAI (Italy); and GEMI researcher at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). He is a former Marie Curie Fellow and lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid, and a former lecturer at the University of Sydney (Australia). He specialises in the Indo-Pacific, Australian and Italian foreign policy; irregular migration governance; and middle power and great power theory. He has published widely on these subjects, including numerous articles in leading journals, four monographs, and two edited volumes. Dr. Abbondanza teaches international relations, security studies, and migration politics, and he regularly contributes to media, public, parliamentary, and institutional debates.
