Elona Dhëmbo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Social Work and Social Policy, University of Tirana, Albania. Her research focuses on migration and transnational families, social protection, gender and care, return migration, and the role of civil society in governance processes. She has published on informal social protection across borders, migration-related social policy, and the experiences of Albanian transnational families. Dr. Dhëmbo has contributed to several international research and policy initiatives, including collaborations with UNICEF, ERIAC, COST Actions, and regional civil society networks in the Western Balkans. Her work combines qualitative and mixed-methods research with a strong interest in participatory governance, social justice, and migration-related inequalities. Her current research interests include transnational migration, family and care relations, migration governance, social services, gender-responsive policies, and deliberative democracy in the Western Balkans.
